PRICE CONTROL: The pricing of our programs is controlled by our accreditation agency. The Open Latch Education Foundation (OLEF) uses a coefficient (.3) to raise or lower our prices every year that is a multiple of 5. On such years, OLEF multiples the coefficient by the April value on the Historical CPI-U spreadsheet, from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics ( click here to see this information). The result is the new average price of a credit in the faculty-school system.
This adjustment is made to account for inflation or deflation in our dual attempt to provide proper real-wage pay to our faculty and fair pricing to our students. The latest calibration we made to match this index was in April 2025. The CPI-U value was 320.795. The calculation was as follows:
 .3 X 320.795 = 96.2385, or $96.23 per credit ($96).

This price indicates the average price for a credit, so if our BA diploma requires 120 credits, we cannot charge more than $11,5200 total for the total tuition cost of the degree. Because of our flat-fee rate and our mentorship model, our current price for a BA degree is $8,800 ($2200 a year for 4 years, but allowing for a student to finish in 3 or to have a fourth year of self-directed learning at no tuition cost).

The next time we are due for a pricing change is 2035, as we have decided to keep the current pricing through the 2030 year, which is when the credit price can be re-figured.

FACULTY REMUNERATION: According to OLEF accreditation rules, our faculty must receive at least 80% of all tuition. This amount can be split up among faculty who co-teach a class or unit. For some of our classes, practicums, and units, our faculty actually receives 100% of the tuition.

PAYING TUITION: If you are a student, you will receive your tuition bill annually in August. It will come to your email as a PayPal invoice. You must pay the tuition by 15 September.
